Arm Lift is performed to remove excess skin and fat from under the upper arm. This corrects the “bat wing” deformity, tightens the skin, and results in a more pleasing contour of the arms. People who have sagging or drooping skin of the upper arms due to weight loss, aging, or genetics are good candidates for arm lift surgery. The method of surgical correction varies depending on the type and severity of the sagging. Typically, an incision is placed from just above the inner elbow extending into the armpit (axilla), excess skin and fat is then removed, and the remaining skin is tightened. While every attempt is made to minimize the scar, some scarring can be expected to be visible when wearing sleeveless garments.
