Because of better understanding of the technique and refined equipment, fat grafting has become a major advance in reconstructive and cosmetic procedures. Although the exact science of fat grafting is still being investigated, there is no doubt that the procedure works. We know that aging of the face and hands is caused not only by loss of support of the tissues, but also a loss of volume. Fat grafting has become an integral component of many cosmetic procedures including facelift, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), hand rejuvenation, breast augmentation, and the Brazilian Butt Lift. Fat grafts are used in breast reconstruction, partial or whole, facial atrophy (Romberg’s facial atrophy), developmental, and traumatic loss of soft tissue volume. Although the down time is minimal for most procedures, they can be technically difficult and time consuming to perform properly and multiple staged procedures may be necessary. Fat grafting of all types and locations has been an integral part of Dr. Borkowski’s practice for many years and is routinely performed at the Personal Choice Surgical Center, LLC.
